How to Lose Thigh Fat
|
In the push to lose thigh fat, don’t overlook pedal power. This can be
one of the best overall ways to lose weight, get fit and have fun at the
same time.
Whether you’re out on the open road, using an basement exercise bike or a
spinning bike at the gym, cycling offers a wide range of benefits. Cycling
uses 400 to 1,000 calories an hour, depending on the type of bike and the
setting. Since each 3,500 calories is equivalent to one pound of fat,
cycling will greatly accelerate your fat-loss goals.
A cardiovascular exercise, cycling improves stamina and endurance. Many
professional athletes use cycling as part of their routine, for this
reason. Cycling helps to lose thigh fat because of its superior lower body
toning. Women in particular will notice the slimming and toning effects on
their legs, hips and thighs. Cycling helps to keep the whole body trim,
but these areas get particular benefits.
Road bikes and exercise bikes can be inexpensive, and a good alternative
to a high-priced membership in a gym or weight loss program that calls for
high-tech gadgets and the like. Used bikes are readily available and a
fully equipped road bike can be had for less than $400. Make sure it is
properly fitted, with a comfortable saddle, a water bottle rack, gears and
safety equipment, like reflectors and lights. You don’t need to sacrifice
safety to lose thigh fat.
If you’re new to riding for fitness, there are three factors to play with
that will increase the health benefits: Speed, distance and difficulty.
Use a monitor or other gadget to keep track of these three statistics and
gradually increase each one. For instance, if you cycle 20 miles per hour
for half an hour on a flat road one week, boost that to 25 miles an hour
the next. Once your body gets accustomed to that, try cycling for 45
minutes at that speed. Then try to cycle for 45 minutes on an incline at
25 miles per hour. Not only will you lose thigh fat, you will notice a
difference in your strength, endurance and lean muscle mass because of the
combined aerobic and anaerobic exercise available to your body.
A bicycle represents freedom. You can ride to the store, go for an all-day
excursion, explore back trails or visit the recreational trails in your
town, and all the while you can lose thigh fat, build lean muscle, tone
and shape your body and give your cardiovascular system a proper workout.
